Throughout my academic career, I've worked on many research projects. During my undergraduate at the University of Miami, I worked in the Shark Research and Conservation program. Through the program, I got to go on shark tagging trips where we caught, tagged, and released sharks. We usually had a school or other group from the public aboard to participate in citizen science. I also got to work in the Coral Restoration and Benthic Ecology Lab at Miami. Through the lab, we outplanted endangered coral species in Miami and maintained an offshore nursey to grow the coral. This program had a citizen science component called Rescue a Reef in which anyone from the public with a SCUBA diving certification could come out with us and help outplant corals.
During my graduate degree, my research has been focused on studying the seasonality of the surf zone in central California. I also worked on a project where we remotely sensed beach wrack, kelp that washed ashore on the beach, using a drone to quantify the amount of kelp on the beach and identify it by species and how fresh/old the kelp was.
